HCHS Black and Silver Brigade Awards and Honors 2017-2018:

Marching Band:

The Black and Silver Brigade has two marching bands-A football band with over 200 students and a smaller competition

ensemble with 175 members.

The band had three top 5 finishes at state marching contests this season, including Grand Champion Honors at the Sound of

  • Gold Invitational.
  • Concert Band:
  • 300+ enrolled in program; program includes four concert bands, a jazz ensemble, a percussion ensemble, colorguard, and
  • numerous chamber ensembles

Large Group Performance Evaluation:

  • Concert Band (Grade IV)-All Superiors
  • Symphonic Band (Grade V)-All Superiors
  • Wind Symphony (Grade VI)-All Superiors (all A’s)
  • Exemplary Performance Award Recipient-This award was given to only two bands in Georgia from the Georgia Music
  • Educators Association; this is the highest recognition bestowed to schools from the state’s association.

Individual Achievements:

  • 46 students in District Honor Band
  • 18 students in South Georgia Region Band
  • 4 students in All State Band
  • 7 students in District Jazz Honor Band
  • 10 students in the UGA Jan Fest Honor Band
