Orange County Aide: Michael J. O’Keefe
Michael J. O’Keefe was born in Queens to John and Catherine (nee Keegan) O’Keefe and raised in Woodside. He traces his Irish heritage to Co. Cork, Cavan and Antrim through both his paternal and maternal grandparents. Michael was educated at St. Teresa School in Woodside and received a bachelor’s degree from Siena College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Marist College.
Michael O’Keefe served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Major. Michael went to have a distinguished career with the New York City Police Department retiring as Deputy Inspector. Michael is currently the
Executive Director of Operations and Risk Management at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY and previously served as Mount Saint Mary College Director of Security & Safety.
Michael is active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Orange County, serving as financial secretary for both Division 2 (Cornwall) and the County Board.
In 2016 he was selected as one of The Irish Voice’s Education 100. He serves on the facilities committee of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center and enjoys volunteering across Orange County.
Michael O’Keefe is married to his wife Kathleen for the past 29 years and they have three children, Kieran, Colin, and Clare. They are parishioners of Holy Name of Mary-Assumption in Montgomery.
