John P. O’Malley: Bronx County Aide to the Grand Marshal

John Patrick O’Malley was born in Keel, Achill Island, County Mayo, and is the second of two boys born to the late Martha (nee Kilbane) and John O’Malley.  John emigrated to the United States in 1956 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1957.  Upon completing his service with the US Army, John began a career in the wholesale meat industry joining UFCWU Local 174 where he worked for 33-years.  After retiring from Local 174, John worked another 11-years on East End Avenue for Local 32BJ. 

John joined the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 7, Bronx County, in 1978, served as Chairman of the Standing Committee, and currently serves as the Division’s Marshal.  John is a proud member of the American Legion Post #111 in Ellenville, New York, as well as an associate member of Pioneer Engine Company #1 in Ellenville.

John and his late wife Catherine are the proud parents of four children and six grandchildren. John resides in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and is a member of the parish of St. Margaret of Cortona Parish.
