Mary E. O’Hara – Kings County Aide to the Grand Marshal
Mary Mortimer O’Hara is the daughter of John and Mary Mortimer from County Kilkenny, Ireland. Mary has been a lifelong resident of Brooklyn where she grew up in the Midwood section and graduated from St. Brendan’s Grade School and High School.
Mary began her work career on Wall Street where she worked for Dominick and Dominick, she then worked as the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Hyde Park Senior Center and later as an office manager for Nova Air Conditioning. Mary is a member of St. Bridget Division 19 Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Gerritsen Beach, Kings County since the early 1980s where she has served as the division’s Recording Secretary, Catholic Action Officer and has chaired and served on many committees to raise funds for various charities.
In 2014, Mary represented the L.A.O.H. as an Aide to the Grand Marshal in the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Mary is a member and Past President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Resurrection Parish Women’s Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Columbiettes 126 Council in Marine Park, Brooklyn.
For the past 35 years, Mary has lived in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn with her husband Pat. They were married for 48 years and active member of Resurrection Parish in Gerritsen Beach, where Mary serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Mary is the proud mother of three, Kathleen, Maureen, and Annmarie; and the grandmother of four, Joseph, Patrick, Michael, and Kathryn.
