2017 SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
DEDICATED TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES, NEW YORK STATE POLICE

New York, NY, December 9, 2016 – The 2017 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be dedicated to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and to the New York State Police, two organizations which will be 100 years old in 2017.

The Board of Directors of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade has voted unanimously to dedicate the parade to the two 100-year-old organizations and to name Msgr. Kevin Sullivan, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, as Aide-at-Large to Grand Marshal Michael J. Dowling for the 2017 parade.
“Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York and the New York State Police represent the values of faith and service which Irish-Americans celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day,” said John L. Lahey, chairman of the Board of Directors of the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  “We honor the outstanding men and women of these organizations, people who live the Christian ideals of compassion and selfless service.”

The New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which began in 1762, marches up Fifth Avenue every year on March 17th in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland and of the Archdiocese of New York.
