Martin Crimmins – Richmond County Aide

Marty Crimmins is a native Staten Islander; he is one of six children of Bertha (Brown) and Corneilius Crimmins.  He traces his roots back to County Cork.  Marty graduated from Saint Rita’s grammar school, and attended Saint Peters Boys High School for two years, graduating from Susan Wagner High School in 1974.  In 1979, Marty graduated from John Jay College of the City University of New York, with a baccalaureate degree in Police Science.  Marty entered the New York City Police Department [NYPD] in 1981, retiring as a detective in 2001. Marty served in various capacities of the NYPD Detective’s Endowment Association and was elected to the position of Welfare Officer Manhattan South in 1994.  
Marty is a long time parishioner of Our Lady Star the Sea where he serves as an usher. Marty is a fourth degree Sir Knight of the Staten Island Council of the Knights of Columbus and is a member of the Color Corps.  Marty is the recipient of the Four Chaplains Award from the Knights of Columbus.
Marty joined the Ancient Order of Hibernians Richmond County Division 4, Saint Columcille in 1992.  He has served in many capacities including AOH Richmond County Board President, and has served Richmond County AOH in every chair.  Marty has also been AOH Division 4 President, Vice President, and Standing Committee member.  Marty is a Past President of the Saint Columcille Irish Cultural Center of Staten Island and is the current Vice President of that organization. Marty is a founding and active member of the Cu Chulainn Celtic Warrior Degree team of the AOH and the Honor Guard of the Saint Columcille Irish Cultural Center of Staten Island.
Marty has served on the committee for the Staten Ireland Irish Fair for over fifteen years and was Chairman of the fair for three years from 2011-2014. He serves as the longstanding treasurer of the Richmond County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and was elected by that group as Aide to the Grand Marshall of the S.I. Parade.  Marty was honored as Irishman of the Year by the Saint Columcille Irish Cultural Center of Staten Island in 2010.  In 2017 Marty was honored as Chief Brehon of the Staten Ireland Irish Fair.
Marty is now NYS AOH District 5 Director covering Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. He is the proud father of one daughter, Megan, age 24.
