Kevin M. Stommer was born in Goshen, New York, to Gerard and Ann Stommer of the Bronx, and traces his Irish heritage to Counties Sligo and Mayo on his mother’s side, and Counties Down and Sligo on his father’s side. Kevin attended Washingtonville Central School District, excelling in academics and football during high school. His athletic
achievements led him to Iona College, where he pursued his passion for football. Kevin enlisted in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service where he received numerous honors, including combat status.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Kevin joined the New York State Police and received a medical retirement after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Kevin is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5890 in Washingtonville, where he rose to the rank of Grand Knight. During his tenure, he counseled over 37 disabled children and served as a caretaker on a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France. In support of intellectually disabled children, Kevin solicited sponsorships and participates in the “Polar Plunge,” helping to raise funds for the Special Olympics. Kevin is currently President of the Joseph D. Duelk Jr. Division 1 in Orange County and serves as the Orange County AOH Vice President. Kevin is the President of the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade Committee, and a member of both the Catholic War Veterans Post 386 and
the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8691. Kevin is married to Maryanne Lucey Stommer, and they are the proud parents of four children. Kevin attends St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Washingtonville, New York and often serves as an usher.
