Lynn F. McDonald was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and is the daughter of Alice P. (née Wurtz) and Francis X. Her paternal ancestors, the McDonalds and Flahertys, immigrated to the United States during the Great Hunger from Counties Louth and Cork. Her maternal ancestors, the O’Haras, arrived from Dublin in the late 1880s. Lynn graduated from St. Brendan’s High School, earned her B.A. from Brooklyn College (CUNY), and later completed her M.B.A at Long Island University. Lynn has spent more than a decade working within the New York State Court System, following a long and distinguished career in the telecommunications industry. Since 2008, she has been an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 19 in Gerritsen Beach, where she has held several positions, including Division Sentinel and Division Recording Secretary. At the Kings County level, she was elected to serve as Kings County Treasurer. Lynn is a dedicated participant in LAOH Kings County events, fundraising activities, and St. Brigid celebrations, rarely missing a year. As a parishioner of St. Patrick’s in Bay Ridge, Lynn also supports and volunteers at the Hibernian Baile na nGael Hall in Gerritsen Beach, known as “Brooklyn’s Home of the Irish”. Additionally, Lynn is an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Columbus Council #126 Columbiettes in Marine Park, where she has served as President and currently holds the position of Treasurer. Lynn has one sister, Marion; two nephews, Patrick and Andrew; a niece, Deirdre; five great-nephews and four great-nieces.
