Cathal M. McGreal was born and raised in Owenwee, near Westport in County Mayo, Ireland. He is the third of five children born to Michael John McGreal, and Margaret McGreal (née Whelan), originally from Athy, County Kildare. Cathal graduated secondary school in County Mayo and traveled to New York, where he worked for a year before moving to London to
work on various construction projects, most notably Euro Disney. Cathal returned to the United States, where he started his own millwork and construction company, Hibernian Wood Design in Westchester County. Cathal owns The Quiet Man Public House and the Yellow Brick Café, in Peekskill, New York, as well as the Hunter Mountain Brewery at Hunter Mountain. He is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 18 in Peekskill, and currently he is the Treasurer for the Westchester County AOH. Cathal is the Chairman of the Hudson Valley Irish Festival, and has been a member of the Peekskill St. Patrick’s Committee for over 20 years, serving as the 25th Anniversary Grand Marshal. For over 15 years, Cathal has
worked with New York City St. Patrick’s Parade, collaborating with the 69th Regiment and as an usher in the Cathedral during the Mass honoring St. Patrick. Cathal resides in Darien, Connecticut, along with his fiancéeand business partner, Jennifer, and they have two sons.
