Bronx born and bred, Joe Brady completed his education on a music scholarship at Iona College graduating with a BBA in 1977. He is a EUSPBA certified Bagpipe and Drum Major adjudicator, the only one in the Association to be recognized in both disciplines. As a solo competitor, Joe has ranked in the top ten in the Open Professional levels since 1971. He has officiated as a bagpiping judge and Senior Drum Major at some of the largest US festivals, and had the honor of playing at the FBI Hall of Honor dedication in Quantico, VA. Joe competed with the Worcester Kiltie Pipe Band from Massachusetts, ranking as one of the world’s best pipe bands in the 70’s and 80’s. In 1989, he founded the FBI Emerald Society Marines Corps Pipe Band. He then played with the County Monaghan Pipe Band for several years culminating in his becoming Pipe Major of their Grade 2 band. Joe was the Pipe Major of the famed Fighting 69th Regiment and led the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade from 1990 until his retirement (from the parade only!) in 2022. Joe was Director of Music at West Point (1987-1992) and taught many bands including the New York City Fire Department Pipe Band (1977-1996). He is a founding member of the Peekskill St. Patrick’s Committee and a member of AOH , Division 18 Peekskill. Joe married Ann Simmons in 1977 and three years later relocated to Peekskill where they raised their four daughters, Kris Ann, Lauren, Caitlin and Nikki. Joe is currently employed as a Senior Account Executive by Sprague Energy Corp.
