John Hyland has been with the parade for well over 25 years. He is currently the delegate to the parade from A.O.H. Division 7, Bronx County.

His dream came true ten years ago in 2010, when he was elected to be an Aide to Grand Marshal Ray Kelly, who was the Chief of Police for the NYPD at the time. Many of the pictures below are from that year.

John remembers one year the forcast was for good weather and he work his nice dress shoes but it ended up with a combination of rain, sleet, and snow all on that same day. That year was really rough on him, and his shoes.

John works his posts on parade day in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, during the mass. He helps VIP get to their assigned seating as well as working security during mass. After mass he works with the Line of March team during the parade.
