Eugene Wynne – Suffolk County Aide

Eugene Wynne was born in Dowra, County Cavan in 1956.  He is the second of seven children born to Jimmy and Kathleen Wynne. Since immigrating to Woodside, Queens in 1973, Eugene has held numerous jobs in the trades; he was an apartment superintendent and owner of a bar and restaurant in Queens.
In 1982, Eugene moved to Suffolk County where he and his wife of 38 years, the former Kathy Clancy of Glenade, County Leitrim, raised three children: James, a US Marine Corps veteran and Federal agent, Gene, a Lt. Col. on active duty in the US Marine Corps and Sean, owner of Celtic Tech.
Eugene worked for Queens Surface Transit Lines for 25 years and retired in 2003.  A proud civil servant, he began his career in government as a bus driver and worked his way up to the position of Inspector. He is a 25-year member of the Emerald Society of the Queens Surface Transit Lines and three time president.  Eugene was named the Emerald Society’s Member of the Year in 2004.  He has been an active member of the AOH and has served in many official positions for Division 8, Suffolk County.  In 2006, he was honored as Hibernian of the Year by AOH Division 8 and by the town of Brookhaven.  One of his proudest moments as a Hibernian came when he helped raise donations to send care packages to deployed members of the U.S. Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. An avid golfer, Eugene has volunteered numerous hours hosting and managing charity golf events and fundraisers to provide college scholarships. Eugene is honored to be selected as the Suffolk Aide to the Grand Marshal this year and thanks everyone involved for bestowing this honor upon him.
