Tom Reilly was born in Lindenhurst, NY, the third of six children born to Mary (Née Fleming) and Bill Reilly. Tom’s Irish heritage traces back to the counties of Longford, Tipperary, Cavan, and Clare. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from SUNY Old Westbury, and joined the NYPD in January 1984. He transferred to the FDNY in October 1985, and as a firefighter, he was assigned to Engine 274, Engine 207, and Ladder 126. In 1999, Tom was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Engine 59. In 2003, he was promoted to Captain, assigned to Engine
249. He achieved the rank of Battalion Chief in 2008, assigned to Battalion 20, and was promoted to Deputy
Chief in 2023. Tom is currently assigned to the 6th Division in the Bronx. Thomas Reilly was elected a Chiefs
Representative for the Uniformed Fire Officers Association for a three-year term beginning in 2021. He is a
proud member of the FDNY Holy Name Society, the FDNY Emerald Society, and the Fire Chiefs Association.
In 1990, Tom married Margaret Burns, and they are the proud parents of three children. They are active parish-
ioners at St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish Sayville, Long Island.
