P.O. KEVIN J. MURPHY

Kevin is the third of four children and traces his Irish roots to Brandon, County Cork, and Elphin, County Roscommon. Kevin was educated at St. Gregory the Great Grammar School in Bellerose, New York, and Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village, New York. After graduating High School, Kevin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed
to three separate Combat and Contingency Operations. Kevin is a 24-year Member of the Service (M.O.S.) and a two-time Combat Recipient Marine Corps Veteran, with service in Panama and Kuwait,Oman, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi (Operations Sea Solider and Desert Shield and Storm) and Somalia.
Kevin was meritoriously Combat Promoted to Corporal, during Operations Desert Shield and Storm. Promoted *4 Meritorious Masts (Star denotes subsequent award). As part of Kevin’s N.Y.P.D. training and career, he graduated from the N.Y.P.D. Law Enforcement Schools and Courses; NYPD Auto Crime School, Pennsylvania State Police Auto Theft Course two times. New Jersey State Police Organized Crime Truck Hijacking Course, NYPD ESU Emergency Psychology Technician Course, NYPD ESU N.Y.S. E.M.T. Course, Metro Dade Florida Auto Theft Course, NYPD Field Training Officer Course two times, NYPD Crisis Intervention Team Training Course, and NYPD Dignitary Protection Course. Kevin was the N.Y.P.D. Senior Field Training Officer, for newly assigned Police Officers, after their graduation from the N.Y.P.D. Academy.
During Kevin’s 20 years on Uniform Patrol in the 34th Precinct, he has earned two exceptional Police Duty
Awards and two exceptional Merit Citations. In 2014, Kevin became the 34th Precinct Delegate to the P.B.A.
Labor Union, and currently he is Trustee for Patrol Borough Manhattan North of the P.B.A. In early 2012,
Kevin was diagnosed with two World Trade Center related cancers, and underwent chemotherapy and radiation
treatment. He returned to full duty later that year. Kevin has previously been honored as the 2024 Irishman of
the Year, by the Orange County Shields and is a 2024 the Irish Echo Law and Order Recipient.
