Colonel Patricia M. Groeber (nee Rhatigan) is a 30-year veteran of the New York State Police. She currently serves as Deputy Superintendent-Employee Relations. Colonel Groeber joined the State Police in 1986 starting her career as a Trooper in Troop G, Latham, NY. After proudly serving in numerous field and headquarters positions, she has risen through the ranks and has been the first female to hold a number of leadership positions within the State Police.

Colonel Groeber was promoted to “third in command” of the agency in May 2013, and as the Field Commander, oversaw all operations of the Uniform Force, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the New York State Intelligence Center and the Office of Counter Terrorism and the associated special details of these units.

In 2015, Colonel Groeber was appointed “second in command” and served as the First Deputy Superintendent where she is responsible for all day to day operations of the more than 5,000 employee agency.
