Nassau County Aide to the Grand Marshal

Paul is an Irish American and native New Yorker, the son of Robert and Sheila (née McHugh) Doud from Brooklyn.  His Doud ancestors emigrated from Counties Sligo, Roscommon and Clare while his maternal side hails from County Fermanagh.  Paul grew up in Hewlett, NY with two siblings, Robert Doud and Sheila Zihal.

After graduating from G.W. Hewlett High School, Paul continued his studies at St. John’s University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1984.  Eight years later, he was awarded his Master of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Adelphi University.  Paul worked for a major New York financial institution in its operations department for over 34 years holding the title of AVP.

In addition to his work obligations, Paul spent most of his life as a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Hewlett where he was an extraordinary minister and coach of the RCIA team.  He is currently an active parishioner of St. Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Center.  In 2007, Paul joined the Knights of Columbus/Fr. John Farrell Council #5962, and served as Guard, Recorder, Treasurer and presently, Deputy Grand Knight.  He also serves as a 4th degree member of Assembly 705 and served as District Administrator for Nassau County.

That same year, Paul joined AOH Division 3/Five Towns, the oldest division in Nassau County.  He has served as Recorder, Standing Committee and President and currently holds the title of Treasurer.  Paul has had the privilege to be part of the AOH Nassau County Board as Sentinel, Marshal and Chairman of the Standing Committee.  Paul also enjoys partaking in AOH and other Irish events such as Mass Chairman for the annual Nassau County Irish Feis and the Long Island Irish Music Festival.

Paul is a member of the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.

He is the proud uncle to Catherine, Robert, Katie and Joseph.  Paul and his family are extremely proud that he has been selected as an Aide to the Grand Marshal for the 2024 NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
