Aide to The Grand Marshal

Shelia R. Clancy McCarthy

Born and raised in the Bronx, Sheila traces her Irish roots to Magheracloone, County Monaghan through her father Alan Clancy, and Mullahoran, County Cavan through her mother, Mary Brady.  One of five siblings, Sheila is one of the Clancy children who grew up with a foot in both countries.  After attending grade school at St. Margaret’s in Riverdale and high school at the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Inwood, Sheila completed her education in Ireland, receiving a nursing degree from the International Medical Missionaries of Mary.

Upon her return to New York, Sheila partnered in a nursing agency which she grew to success.  She developed her entrepreneurial skills, switched paths to the hospitality industry and went on to own and/or operate multiple restaurants in NYC and Montauk.  Sheila ultimately brought her skills to the real estate market where she is presently employed as a real estate broker with Douglas Elliman.  She is consistently among the top producers in the company nationwide.

Sheila is as involved in her community as she is in her work, and is a longtime supporter of the Frances Pope Memorial Foundation and active in the Irish Arts Center.

Sheila married Gene McCarthy, a fellow Bronxite with roots in Ballydavid, County Kerry.  Gene was Chairman of the Knights of St. Patrick and a member of the board of the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade at the time of his passing in June 2019.

Sheila currently resides in Manhattan.  She has four grandchildren, Caitlin, Brendan, Anna Kathleen and Seamus Eugene, four nieces, three nephews and multiple cousins on both sides of the pond, and is delighted the Irish American traditions live proudly in the Clancy McCarthy tribes.
