Aide to The Grand Marshal

William E. Whiston

William “Bill” Whiston was born in Los Angeles to Dublin-born parents and spent most of his  childhood in Ireland.  He represented Ireland in track and field and played national level rugby before immigrating to New York in 1980 to continue his career with Allied Irish Bank.

Bill graduated from Presentation College in Bray, County Wicklow, and earned an undergraduate  degree from Pace University in New York.  He went on to earn his master’s in business administration from NYU’s Stern School of Business.  In addition to his other professional accomplishments, he was an adjunct professor at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business from 1990 to 2010.

Bill worked at Allied Irish Bank from 1973 to 2002, and served as the Chief Financial Officer of  the Archdiocese of New York from 2002 to 2024.  He is a trustee of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and St. Joseph’s Seminary.  Bill is a Knight Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre and a Knight of the Order of St. Gregory the Great.

Bill and his wife, Lorna Bertrand Whiston, have been married 38-years and live in Rye where they are parishioners of the Church of the Resurrection.  Bill and Lorna have three adult children, Katherine; Will married to Kerry (née Morrison); and Brian married to Jane (née Ruocco).  They are the proud grandparents of a new grandson, Rory.
